Columbus Works' YouthBuild Project has given young adults 17-24 opportunities to learn specific areas in the field of construction. This project began in July of 2004 and the students began their six-month training course while working toward academic success.

The rehabilitated house on Starr Avenue was completed January of 2004. It was the first endeavor for Columbus Works' YouthBuild Project. "The contractors installed the cabinets and pluming and did the exterior painting," said Michael Dean, YouthBuild Site Supervisor.

Columbus Works YouthBuild Project participants are currently working on a Main St. Project. They have completed the garage and are in the process of installing the drywall inside the house.

YouthBuild's mission is "To unleash the positive energy of unemployed young adults to rebuild their communities and their own lives with a commitment to work, education, responsibility, and family." - YouthBuild USA.
